Cydia not even starting on Ipod 2nd gen 3.1.3 update

Hey, i've been trying to download cydia straight from jailbreakme.com on my ipod touch, but it doesnt seem to be working. Every time i get on the site and then slide the bar, it stays on the purple screen for a short time and then either restarts the whole ipod or just makes safari crash. If anyone has a solution please reply.

Might need to restore. Sounds like symptoms of the PDF patch but you obviously dont have that if you dont have Cydia...

You dont have your SHSHs saved do you?
