Ok here is what I did to get cydia sources back when it all disappears ! SSH into your device and navigate to var/lib/apt/list/folder ,,,, DELETE everything in the folder ExCEPT the partial folder !!!! Rebooot and you should be okay

I have the same problem. I tried to access cydia last night but then discovered that all my packages and everything is blank!
I didn't get a chance to do it last night but i will try to ssh to my phone once i get back from work today as per zguy916's instructions.
Even tho cydia doesn't work, i can still access repos using Icy.
*Update*
I just ran Cydia on my phone again...it gave me the Database Error and then i clicked OK and it started downloading new release info.
After that was complete, it reoloaded the data as usual and now all my packages and sources are showing up again!!
It seems to be working for now.
Can anyone else try to see if it's working for them as well?Last edited by s3ntrax; 12-07-2009 at 07:17 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

This happened to me just last night. I was getting worried because i had no clue on what to do to get Cydia to work on my iPod Touch again. But thanks to this forum, Cydia works again on my iPod Touch!! Thank you, zguy916!!!

This happened to me earlier today, as it has before. Many people will say "oh! just re-install!" which usually fails to work. What works for sure is (if you have it, and you SHOULD) use iFile and search "Cydia" in the /var/ folder, and proceed to deleting EVERYTHING with cydia in its name (plists, prefrences, everything). Then open Blackra1n and install cydia. I hope this works for you!

This worked for me; had to have alot of patience.
I had to download the ssh program and install to computer.
I was following the directions about the ip and realized i had to use my own ip to ssh in.
I did not delete everything in the directory.
I knew that when i added a source, cydia crashed.
so when ssh'd in in, i saw that source in the directory and deleted the references to the source i added that caused it to crash... after that, I reopened cydia and all was fine.
I was ready to throw the itouch through the window before this.
whew...
