I am not a big fan of blackra1n myself, actually I much prefer pwnage tool, However I am a fan of the 3.1.2 jailbreak, I find it is more stable than 3.1.3 with redsn0w, and explaining how to use blackra1n is much easier than explaining to someone how to use pwnage tool. Hell all you gotta do is hit a button

If you have a 2G iPod touch or 3G iPhone or below, you can download 3.1.2. From here iPod, iPhone and iPad Firmware Download and hold shift while restoring to select 3.1.2. If you have above the previously mentioned devices you are SOL untill another jailbreak
