Why does Cydia install applications into /Applications?
|
Why not to /private/var/mobile/Applications? I just tested it out, SSH'd an application to /private/var/mobile/Applications instead of /Applications (after 'ldid -S' and 'chmod 755' the binary), putting it in a folder with a unique name, resprung and it was on the springboard, and the real reason for this post is that the SpringBoard applies the nice gloss and bevel and rounded corner effects on it. Actual applications from cydia usually look ugly because the icon doesn't get the effects applied. So why doesn't Cydia install them there, just making a random unique folder name and putting the .app in there? And then to uninstall, it would keep track of that unique name. I guess I could manually move things I get from cydia to that folder, but anyway, is there any reason that it doesn't install there?
