Winterboard questions. Performance tweaks?

I am new to this jb stuff. Day two for me!

I installed winterboard and it seems to slow down the performance of the phone. Is there any tweaks or updates for this app to make it run better?

Does this app slow the performance of the phone with just having it installed or is it when you are only using themes that are supported by the winterboard app that will make it slow down?

Last, I tried the vista (full theme) for it. When I went to Display Settings, which is where brightness usually is, it displayed nothing at all. Just a blank background screen. Is this a bug?

Winterboard seems to slow down the performance of the Iphone, there is not much you can do about it... Uninstalling it is an option.

It all depends on what you ask of winterboard. If you want your performace to be at it's best, try a simple theme that only contains a background wallpaper and icons.

Ok so only what you load will determine the performance of the phone. So I could have that program (Winterboard) installed but not using any of the customizations I download and the phone performance is not effected then?

The winterboard program uses a bit of RAM but the program itself doesn't use up any battery life or cpu cycles. If you install themes with video, animation, widgets, changing backgrounds then this will greatly affect performance and battery life.

If I just downloaded winterboard today does that mean I have the most recent one? I'm still learning about Cydia.
