    In terminal:

    su

    alpine

    apt-get remove cydia

    Yes, do as I say!

    apt-get install cydia

You enter those commands through something with terminal access to your iPod.

Either through Terminal on the iPod, PuTTY for Windoze, or default Terminal for mac.

For the command line SSH clients, you type this in:

    sftp root@IPADDRESSHERE

And PuTTY will ask you for the IP, and then you need the password.

I am still in 1.1.4 (iLiberty) and getting the same problem after I updated painfully old Cydia because I need some app to backup my SMSes prior to 2.x upgrade.

How do I fix Cydia or backup SMS so that I can go to 2.x?
