I miss installer - Cydia is ok and since it is the only option right now i'll have to deal with it. I've noticed since I upgraded to the 2.0 firmware and pwn'ed my iphone, reception is horrible, calls are dropped more often and the phone runs slower when switching from one application to another. Some of the apps won't install like the flower slider and the battery chargers...i've uninstalled and reinstalled numberous times with no luck!! I never ever had any of these problems with the installer. I want my installer back!!! Sorry Cydia lovers...not my thing :-)

I had installed Cydia once, back on 1.1.2 or so, and it messed up my phone bad, well at the time I felt Cydia was the culprit. When I got my 3G I wasn't all that excited that Cydia was the only option.
Man am I happy that things turned out this way. I will never go back to Installer. Thanks Jay! I'm glad I gave Cydia a second chance, its truly superior!

When i restored my 3G to 2.0.2 i got rid of installer, until 1.1.4 because i had tried cydia and didnt know how to use it, lol. so i wasnt all excited when it was the only option either but i love it now, its better than installer, at least to me, no problems with it or anything, the installer beta just looks like they put too much effort into making it look nice, because when is started using it, the app icons when your scrolling are huge, and the errors that flooded my screen weren't friendly either...unless they fix it big time, bye bye installer

funny that all you haters say this now and hated it when the 3g came out just because there werent any apps yet and no one cared to listen.
to ripdev: you slack, you lose. if installer was ready when the 2.0 jailbreak came out then this thread wouldnt be here and everyone that hadn't used cydia would still hate on it.

the only reason that we currently have an installer is because now ripdev can spread Kate and earn money on it!
Cydia ftw!

Cydia > installer
Mostly because Installer is forced to refresh all of its sources on launch, sometimes causing it to lock up or take FOR Fing EVER to start up. Have had ZERO problems with Cydia.
That said,, I've looked everywhere and I'm not sure if I'm even allowed to ask this on this thread.....
Buuutttt... can anyone PM me some good Cydia sources, I'm relativley new to all this 3rd party stuff, I just jailbroke my 3G 2.0.2 yesterday and went CRAZY with apps last night, so I'm addicted and looking for better sources mostly Roms, Themes, and good apps..
thanks

installer was good...its just different now...i would personaly like to have both just because in the old days some apps were not avialable on installer and vice versa some apps were not avialable cydia. i do think that cydia is much easier to use than installer but i did like the feature in the old installer to add things to a que and downlaod them all at once. id say once istaller gets out of beta and more apps get ported i think it wont be as bad anymore...but for now in my opinion THEY BOTH SUCK niether of them have even half the good apps they used to and even then the apps they do have are marginal except for a FEW as in like....3, flashlight, dtunes, and that commander (like mobile finder) thats it...all the other stuff just sucks or is purely graphical
