Your First Mobile/Cell Phone
So what was your very first mobile/cell phone?
Include the manufacturer, model and if you remember (for all you old farts), the cost and year that you bought it.
My 1st mobile was the GSM Motorola MircoTAC which I paid about $250 (Cdn) for back in 1990 on a $40 per month 3 year contract with Rogers Wireless.
I still have it and it's in mint condition, complete with leather case. I was surprised when I took it out the other day and it really wasn't as big as I thought it was...Cheers,

That SonyEricsson is nice looking phone and probably pretty solid too. Bet ya miss it a bit.
That StarTAC sure did Moto lots of good on getting a strong foothold (or stranglehold) on the market back in the nineties after the MicroTAC had passed its day. Did you ever see the 10th Anniversary model come out in 2004? Pictured below is the 2004 StarTac and the 1996 version.Cheers,

My first was a hard-wired Audiovox car phone that used a hands-free mic in the ceiling near the visor and was mounted on a stem next to the transmission hump. It also had one of those little cell phone attenna in the middle of the back window. That was 1991 and it was furnished by my employer for my company car.
All these I bought on my own:
Nokia 5190 - Powertel GSM, 1999
Nokia 5165 - Cingular TDMA, 2002
Nokia 6340i GAIT - Cingular TDMA/GSM, 2004
Motorola RAZR V3 - Cingular GSM, 2005
Motorola V551 - Cingular GSM, 2005
Motorola ROKR E1 - Cingular GSM, 2006
Motorola SLVR L7 - Cingular GSM, 2006
After I got the first Moto, I think I went crazy or something.Last edited by ColsTiger; 06-11-2007 at 01:04 AM. Reason: Forgot that cool TDMA/GSM GAIT phone that Cingular used during their transisiton period
