Has Anyone Made the Change?
Hi All,
I am feed up with the Laptop i have (Windows Vista), Crashes, Programs Not Responding, Blue Screen ect ect. So I am going to buy a MacBook Pro today.
My Question is: I have saved all my files on extarnal hard drive, some I know shouldn't be hard to load onto the new Mac like music, but Contacts in Outlook Express and other Files i have saved in Word form, I take it will not be able to be loaded on to the MAC, Am i right? Is there a program I can get to make the transfer?
Thanks,
Nick.

Wrong forum.

twitter.com/dale1vMicrosoft owns the internet through Hotmail. The .HTML is short for Hotmail, so all .HTML files are MS files.

Congratulations!
Welcome to the big; crash, not-responding-programs and blue screen free Macintosh world!
As a recent switcher from 10 years of windoze straight to a whopping 24" iMac, I can assure you that it will be one of the best things you'll ever do.
Things like music files (mp3), image files (jpeg), text documents (txt, doc) and things like those are universal and will load on every single pc out there, windoze, Mac OS X or Linux OS, doesn't matter. For you contacts, you have to first export them from outlook (using outlook) then import them to address book in your Mac. It's that easy.
If you have any question about Macs, you can PM me any time or send me an e-mail from [email protected]

first problem was you owning Vista lol; second to Windows ME, it's the WORST. OPERATING. SYSTEM. EVER.
If I were you, I would keep a PC as a desktop (XP and Linux), and MacBook/Pro/Air for the out-and-about stuff. Then all your eggs will be in three baskets
(Don't know about you, but I'd hate for there to be something amazing come out on PC and I can't play it; huge nightmare scenario)Last edited by dale1v; 03-26-2008 at 04:29 PM.

You know, Windows really isn't that bad. Most of the problems people have are not because of Microsoft, it's:
Bad drivers from the manufacturer
Too much pre-installed crap from the manufacturer
Hardware incompatibilities

yeah i have to also stand up for windows...no offense to macs but i had windows for many years and as a regular user (exept ton of tons of tons movie downloads) (and no games whatsoever)i've never had some serious issues with it.now im on vista and i am very very satisfied with it.it runs great soes the job and there isnt anything i need to do and cant...(speaking personally) yes Mac looks nice everybody says its great comp but lets be honest... why would i pay double price for computer if half price pc works perfect without any problems and i am really used to them by now?its all about user's care and knowledge.you keep trash out of there and it will provide you with great service no matter if mac or windows...
"just thought i'd say my opinion coz everybody's flaming windows
"
oh man i just remember my first experience with mac computer.i saw it first time in my life in one my job and i needed to test internet connection and i couldnt even turn it ON lmaoooo...

Windows in general is fine, people who say "its so bad, blah blah blah" fall very HARD for Apple marketing/propaganda. But Vista, I DO NOT like. It's like XP on a fragmented disk. It runs too slow...
Vista destroyed my PC...so I'm back on speedy XP
I'm buying a MacBook Pro for when I go to university, and that's it. The reason is that as desktops, macs really don't cut it for me. They just don't suit my needs and have less support for what I want (gaming, on the whole), and they don't allow for real customization, which really really REALLY annoys me.Last edited by dale1v; 03-27-2008 at 12:21 AM.
