Could we build our own ipod video

If we got all the parts like the logic board, lcd screen, hdd, battery, the front and rear panel, the click wheel w/ button, and the metal frame work, the hold switch for the correct gb model, bumpers, harddrive cables. Would it be possible to put it all together, restore it in iTunes and make it work like an regular ipod?

It should work, but it would probably be cheaper to just buy a new one than having to buy each individual part

i would actually like to see if someone managed to do it with an iPhone or iTouch. the touchscreen would be exposed, and there would probably some ventilation holes or something. (and less air bubbles in the resin)

just get a 4 or 8gb refurbished off eBay or something. (I'm pretty sure the 4gb is the same price as an 8gb, just because it was cut so early.) Then have it in your living room as a decoration AND the music hub. I would totally give the person who does this a free MMi t-shirt. Would be kind of ironic. Spend $400 on an iphone, get a $30 "refund"...

Buy yourself a 2nd Gen nano, and install linux. Problem solved. Mini, cheap(-er), longer, (to me)better, and linuxier

^^ No, no; this is not what he was talking about at all. I don't know for sure that this would work; But I don't see why it would not work.. If you have the $$ I'd be interested to hear/read about the outcome. Almost like a DIY iPod hahaha. I once wondered that myself actually. I bet that one could purchase parts for a 1G Nano, or maybe a 5G iPod for cheap, but I'm just speculating.
