This is what They Say *
Ucs Technology News) According to the popular internet retailer an Apple 3G iPhone II was auctioned off for a record setting $7500. The working 3G iPhone II prototype now holds the online auction record for a cellular phone. The previous record holder was the diamond crusted Nokia 7280 model phone once owned by celine dion.
Apple Computer issued a press release stating the 3G iPhone II prototype was stolen from a parts supplier overseas and smuggled into the US for sale. The missing 3G iPhone II is still the property of Apple Computer and the firm has offered a $55,000 reward for the return of the device.
The 3G iPhone II combines three products - a revolutionary mobile phone, a widescreen iPod with touch controls, and a breakthrough Internet communications device with desktop-class email, web browsing, maps, and searching - into one small and lightweight handheld device.
The 3G iPhone II also introduces an entirely new user interface based on a large multi-touch display and pioneering new software, letting you control everything with just your fingers. According to Apple founder Steve Jobs, it ushers in an era of software power and sophistication never before seen in a mobile device, completely redefining what you can do on a mobile phone.Last edited by jayc7176; 03-25-2008 at 12:56 PM.

I would have thought that being a prototype it wouldn't have packaging...
There's not even a link to see the item listed on eBay as some kind of proof...

Wow, BS....if it was auctioned off APPLE could track buyer very quickly.
And no prototype have commercial boxes, usually shipped contained in normal cardboard boxes
