06-30-2012, 01:31 PM #1HOW TO: Make your avatar transparent
Well, I've always wondered this. Had a transparent avatar, but when you add it to your profile, it ends up having a white background. I Googled this a bit and figured it out, it's not that hard (if you think it is, I'm depressed)
1. Get an image editing program (Paint.NET, GIMP, PhotoShop, etc.)
2. Resize the image down to 80x80 and save it as either a .PNG or .GIF (.PNG's seem to be clearer)
From there you're done, so you can now have your avatar be transparent. Most avatars are more than 80x80, vBulletin resizes the image and kinda screws it up, explaining the background turning white. So yah, that's how to make your avatar transparent.I will no longer be very active here anymore due to a variety of reasons.

That's not using a transparent background, it's just resizing the image. Okie dokie...

What hes saying is it has to be 80x80 for it to stay transparent, if its larger then it will scale down and remove transparency.

80x80 is the forum standard.

I'm just saying that it basically has to be 80x80 or lower. No more than that or it shows white. Wait lemme edit that, I never said it couldn't be lower than 80, I just said no higher than 80.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, k I get it.
But, if you use a smaller image and mount the image on a transparent layer, it will not work with avies even at 80x80.
