Thread: Cydia Port for Windows Phone 7 (Cydia4WP7)

Default Cydia Port for Windows Phone 7 (Cydia4WP7)
Frown Crown, LLC. (Frown Crown), a group or developers & hackers have decided to 'port' Cydia to Windows Phone 7 mobile devices. The project is called Cydia4WP7 and should take a few months to complete.

The project is not just as simple as bringing Cydia over to Windows Phone mobile devices, it involves lots of planning, graphic design, and more. One of the most major things that needs to be done still, is to figure out how mods will be created for Windows Phone mobile devices. As of now, there is no "jailbreak" for the Windows Phone OS, but there are ways to get the app (.XAP) file onto a Windows Phone device, therefor "jailbreaking" the device. Once the general app is done, it will need to be thought out as to how mods/apps will be installed from the ported Cydia.

It sounds confusing, but should go as planned.

    Full info & log here.

Understandable, but we will also be dealing with the iDevices soon too. A member of the team here has been working with the iPhone since the first day it came out. We just wanted to get word out that Cydia (for the iDevice) is going to be ported to WP devices.

Good luck getting DPKG, APT, and "runas /localhost\admin cydia.exe" to work on a non-privileged NT kernel.

OT: I think Cydia is like redsn0w or Android Honeycomb in the FOSS department: in name only. Good luck...

One more question, do you have permission from Jay (saurik)?

You said that "we will be dealing with iOS devices soon too." That's why I made a sarcastic remark back.

I guess I don't understand why one would want to "port" Cydia from iOS to WP7. To me, this is like "porting" Microsoft update to MacOSX; know what I'm sayin?
And it will be like a taco inside a taco within a Taco Bell that's inside a KFC that's within a mall that's inside your dream! Springboard screwy after reboot? Here is the fix

Well um I guess it's cool that Cydia may be porting to other phones but what simply could wp7 need from Cydia?

You'd have to make repo maintainers start a seperate WP7 repo, because software for iPhone wouldn't work on Windows, due to programming language and file system differences.

Any thoughts on porting WinterBoard, SBSettings and libactivator?

Cool! But also you should remember there was going to be a Cydia for Macs...

Off-topic: this is my first mmi post ever
