Tim Cook killed the Apple Star?
With Steve Jobs' health in jeopardy and Tim Cook taking over (for the time being at least). Apple seems to be in a precarious position and I'm not really sure if it will be the same great company pushing out the products we've come to love.
Tim recently stated that he wants Apple to be "for everyone" and not "just for the rich."
Apple has never been about selling to the masses; they sell premium quality products at a premium price. It's like purchasing a BMW. Once you start to sell to the masses, the quality and charm tanks. What do you guys think?

If you're a profit maximizing corporation (IE. AAPL) then you want your product in the hands as many consumers as possible. With the iPhone being a cash cow, creating a toned down version makes perfect sense... Why do you think BMW created the 1 series... so more individuals could afford a BMW. Plus, there's no way Apple would put out a completely half-assed product at a lowered price point just so more individuals could afford it. Basically, if (and when) apple releases a more affordable version of the iphone, you can be sure everything was thought out thoroughly prior to launch and that includes both form, function and pricing. And on a side note, I'm sure all Apple shareholders (which includes me) will welcome a more affordable alternative version to the current iPhone because that means more revenue, new potential life long customers and a rise in stock price which will make Apple, Apple's shareholders and I very happy.

I can't see Apple lowering the quality of its products. Apple is a prestigious company. As for Apple products only for the rich I don't find this to be true..... that comment Tim stated is wrong.... many people have the iPhone... and many have bought Macbooks, Macbook Pro's etc..... many people rich and not so rich have bought Apple products... how do you think Apple got where it is today? By only the rich buying their products?
The neighbor across the street just bought a new laptop and for $150.00 more she could have bought a Apple laptop. Her comment was I couldn't afford $150.00 more but is crying because the new laptop she just bought she hates because it runs slower than a dinosaur. People choose to buy what they like or buy to save money instead of saving and buying what they really like or what they want.
Anyone can have Apple products... all it takes is saving your money to get them.
