Need some PC help fellas... a bit frustrated
Hey guys,
I am need to create a recovery cd for Windows Xp Home edition. It is for my dads comp. His comp got so messed up that it needs to be completely restored to factory. Some guy gave me a windows 7 boot leg stuff, but my dad doesnt want it. He wants the one the comp came with, windows xp home edition.
I have the serial ofcourse, on the label on back of comp.
But i need the recovery or boot cd whatever you call that, for xp home.
How do i find that. And how do i burn that?
Please if anyone can take some time out to help me. id appreciate that. I have a macbook so i dont really deal with this pc stuff often.

Some of the more recent computers came with a recovery partition. What brand is it?

When your talking recovery partition he may not know what that is.... if he does and it has one he just might get lucky!
I wonder if his father's system came with a restore cd that is made already? Or with Windows XP he should be able to boot up on it and reformat the system so he could reinstall windows on it again....

That's why I was asking. HP comps had recovery partitions that you could just hit a key on the bios and it would all be right there with no discs needed. I think a couple others did too so was just seeing if he was one of those comp makers.

Usually, if you get a computer with Windows preinstalled, the XP installation disc files should be in your computer.
