NASA Finds New Life

NASA scientist Felisa Wolfe Simon will announce that they have found a bacteria whose DNA is completely alien to what we know today. Instead of using phosphorus, the bacteria uses arsenic. All life on Earth is made of six components: carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, phosphorus and sulfur. Every being, from the smallest amoeba to the largest whale, share the same life stream. Our DNA blocks are all the same.

But not this one. This one is completely different. Discovered in the poisonous Mono Lake, California, this bacteria is made of arsenic, something that was thought to be completely impossible. While she and other scientists theorized that this could be possible, this is the first discovery. The implications of this discovery are enormous to our understanding of life itself and the possibility of finding beings in other planets that don't have to be like planet Earth.

Yeah I've read some of Wolfe-Simon articles in the past week or so and this is truly an amazing discovery.

Well if it's arsenic based it'll be more of a "kill us all" bacteria hopefully and we can put an end to the joke that is humanity.

Well it's only dangerous is they're mainly arsenic and we eat it. So as long as this new life form doesn't evolve into delicious looking arsenic cows we'll be fine.

I just still find it upsetting that they still think life on other places would need these base items to create life. Today just proved that 1 of the items can be different. So what makes them still think other life forms in the universe NEED oxygen and hydrogen and the others they listed as essential elements to life. That just bugs me.

Yea but they are not as actively searching for other life base forms. All they keep looking for are planets with water for life. In everything they post and do they say they need to have those base components to have life. The same base we have. All reports always say the words crucial, must have, need, etc. for the findings.

Today they proved that they dont must have or need all the same things.

They haven't opened more because up this point ALL LIFE AS WE KNOW IT was based on the magic 6 elements. Some had theorized it but it had never happened except in Sci-Fi.
