If Ellen Paige's character was the younger chick, then it was because she was new to the scene and was her plan to go into limbo anyway, I think anyway. If Ellen Paige's character was the crazy chick that stabbed people in the gut, then because she was a part of the dude Leo-DiCaprio played's mind. I was too lazy to look it up; so I wrote two separate explanations.

Not necessarily true. They only didn't want to die because if you were under narcotics and died you didn't wake up, you were stuck in limbo. Had they not been under narcotics, they would have woken up just fine when they died. However they wouldn't have been able to go 3-4 levels down.

That we are in a dream, and the only way to escape is to kill yourself. What if Christopher Nolan plans to lead people into mass suicide?

Personally, this is my whole take on the crumbling city bit. I believe that Cobb and Ariadne entered this level, it was not limbo. The whole purpose of going to that level was to bring back Fischer, who just died. But I believe that they entered just another dream of Cobb's, and that Cobb created a projection of Fischer there. He did this in order to face Mal and get past his guilt. He put the projection of Fischer there so that Ariadne would leave. So Ariadne took "Fischer" which was really just a projection, and jumped off the building, which provided a kick that woke her up. Now you may be wondering, how did they bring back Fischer from "the dead" ? Well I believe that the resuscitating with the defibrillator brought him back.

But it was Ariadne's idea to go in and rescue Fisher so I don't see how Cobb could've been planning to end the issues with Mal when he was ready to give up once Fisher was shot.
