RROD on my Xbox 360
This sucks. I had it for almost 2 years and as I was playing MW2 it just crapped out on me. I don't want to do the towel trick as I believe that's only a temporary fix. I'm debating on sending it to Microsoft or fixing it myself by opening it. Is the problem caused by a cold solder joint?
I've heard people say that when they sent their 360's to Microsoft they were sent a refurbished model. I've also read that some people continue to get the RROD on their systems after they are sent back from repairs. Any suggestions?Android user suffering from iPhone withdraw.

I got a refurb back when I sent mine in. I would just find a local guy to fix it.

No thank you. PS3 doesn't have a community as big as 360's. All my friends have 360's.Android user suffering from iPhone withdraw.

Don't send it to Xbox Support Center. Their service is completely terrible.Asking for help is different from being stupid. Fanboys can rot in @#$%!

I'm going to attempt to repair it myself this weekend. I was looking online and saw that I can upgrade the fans. I'm going with the Talisman Whisper Fan. You can also upgrade the heatsink. I'm going to go to microcenter after work and buy some tools and anti static pads and stuff.
While I'm at it I'm going to paint my 360 MMi blue. I think it will look nice. Wish me luck people hopefully I can fix this.Android user suffering from iPhone withdraw.

Oh yeah. I saw the insides of a 360 that was received back from repair and it looks like all Microsoft did was add a heatsink to the console. I was reading reviews online saying that people were still experiencing RROD's even after getting theirs repaired.Android user suffering from iPhone withdraw.

I'm going to record the process on my iPhone. If I fail I'll probably submit a video in slow motion of my facial reactions to failblog.org.Android user suffering from iPhone withdraw.

Ok. I went to secure.llama.com and purchased a couple of things. I recommend the site. They're reputable. I purchased a
Xbox 360 Fan Upgrade Talismoon Whisper Fan Blue LED
Xbox 360 New / Elite Type GPU Heatsink /w Heatpipe
All in One Xbox 360 Ring of Death Repair Kit
I spent almost 100 dollars. I plan to take it all apart and I'm going to spray it with MMi blue and coat it with some clear coat. I also bought an anti static pad and anti static wrist band thingy. I can't wait until I receive everything.

you didnt need to waste money on a repair kit, all it is is a couple pieces of metal, you could have found something as suitable lying around the house.
i might be able to help you, can you give error message? (press the sync and eject button at the same time, four times in a row. four rings is zero)

I gave up on the 360 after the 3rd RROD. I have had my PS3 since launch and have had ZERO issues. The gaming community is huge! Not to mention free

I couldn't say one way or the other. I could never bring myself to pay Microsoft to play.
