its like a branding of apple product. originally meaning internet it was more like the "e" from e-mail. But now it is a way of showing its "relation" i suppose to all of apples other products.
iTunes , iChat, iPod, iStore.. etc....Being an i can be a lot of pressure. you have to live right up to the small point.

Yup. The first "i" was the "iMac" which was introduced right as the internet was getting started....so it was kinda short for "internet Mac". Then as seann33uk stated, it became a branding.

Don't know about you guys but I think the "i" is cool for itunes, ichat, iMac etc.....
