The verdict is Terminal- MMi members your help is needed
As some of you may know, my daughter Lanie has been diagnosed with neuroblastoma. As the months went by, and chemo and radiation persisted, our pediatric Oncologist Dr. Mayer has made the final decision that she is terminal at 26 months old. Our CAT scan last Tuesday shows massive tumor growth, spreading into the kidneys and even her neck. My only daughter fights for life, and I am powerless.
While our fight was tough, it is not over. We are now at home on Hospice care. The next two weeks are going to test our strengths beyond my imagination. I cannot fathom spending my last days with her, cherishing every moment and having family plan her funeral. It is absurd and makes no sense to me, but life is what it is.
I would like to thank the MMI and MMMoto communities for your support throughout these trying times. Both communities were a place I could briefly take my mind off of my life, and learn. Thank You all..

After spending quite a while typing various reply's then reading them and then deleting them as they didn't look or read correctly at this sad sad time I came to the conclusion that its very difficult to know what to say at such a time the easy way would have been to not reply but I felt I should because sometimes its nice to know there are some people who care so with that I wish Lanie, you and your family strength and good luck..

I just can not imagine your pain. Indeed sad that a precious little life is burdened with this awful disease. We all feel your hurt but couldn't even begin to understand how this has effected you and your family.
Please supply us a link where donations can be made.

"Sometimes I think the Lord is testing me".
In situations such as these it is important to remember that the lord will never give you more than you can handle if you have faith that everything has a reason. In cases such as these where there is a young life being given to you, then taken away.... or taken back from where she came if you will, it is to test the strength of your faith and your marriage. To make you stronger, so that in the future you may walk through any trials. To make you humble, so you appreciate what you are given from this day forward.
Ultimately however these situations are to make you a better man. You should embrace it, understand it, and so that nothing is in vain........ make sure you live up to it.Screw #Winning, I'm #Juanning

update 9/3/09: She hasn't opened her eyes for me in almost 2 days. For those with medical knowledge, she has stopped producing urine as well. Times are getting rough, but no one can take my sunshine away. I included a pic in my first post, she is my little angel. We had just returned from the hospital in this picture. Note the pressure dressing where her portacath was. Without the catheter, she must eat on her own. But she is not.

We are blessed today. We are having a yard sale to try and offset the piling medical bills, the least of which is $2432.68. My mother is selling her Macbook to the Pawnshop for 640.00. Lanie is still sleeping. Heart rate spiked to 130's at about 2 AM. Hospice nurse and chaplain came over by 3 AM. Its been a long night. Thanks for your prayers everyone. If you'd like to help here is a donation link.GOD BLESS.

Update. 9/7/09 Lanie woke up early today, and wanted to play with the flowers the neighbors dropped off. After about an hour and a half she was asleep again. In the past two days she has only taken in about 5 ml of fluid. Still no urine. The abdominal swelling is incredible.
On a brighter note we have one partial eyelash growing back!!! The chemo of course made her lose all hair, but since it has been about two weeks, one has decided to comeback. Amazing.
Yard sale didn't do to bad $65.00 was the total.Last edited by mumra06; 09-25-2009 at 10:48 AM.

I gave her a hug for you blkcadi. Sometimes wish moments like the one in the photo would never end. When she falls asleep, she twitches in my arms. Only with pain medication does she truly get comfortable.

Update
For all those who follow this, Thank You. It's been a little while since I've updated. Perhaps because things deteriorate quickly and then rebound a bit. She still hasn't made urine, yet as of yesterday was taking in small amounts of fluid. Lanie still has the fever, but it is to be expected. As her renal system shuts down, the waste becomes toxic. I'm sorry to be so graphic, but it helps me cope. The next stage (final) will be upon us shortly, as she falls into sleep (comatose). She will not awake. Her passing will, according to the Hospice staff be within hours to 3 days. I can only smile and cherish the time we have left together, and do my best to let her know that she will always be daddy's girl....

Can not begin to tell you how proud you make me feel. Your strength and faith is a inspiration to me. My sincere best to Lanie and the Angels that watch over her.
