How to type "iPhone"
Okay, this has gone on long enough, and I need to rant and blow off some steam about it. Hey idiots who spell iPhone Iphone or iphone, IT'S SPELLED "iPhone"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The i is lower case like any other apple product, and the first letter of the word is capitalized, and the rest is lower case. I'm sorry that I'm making a big deal about it, but seriously it's not that hard. A tiny difference in typing makes a huge one reading it. Okay? Okay.

Ffffuuuu read
While we're at it:
I hate when people confuseyour with you're.
They are two different words
Your: Belonging to you; of you; related to you (singular; one owner); Belonging to you; of you; related to you (plural; more owners)
You're: abbreviation of "you are"
"Your a member of MMi"- this is incorrect. It does not make sense. It makes me
"You're a member of MMi"- this is
correct- USE IT

Homophone: a word that is pronounced the same as another word but differs in meaning.Last edited by dale1v; 07-12-2009 at 04:35 PM.

i was a professional copyeditor for several years. and you know what? while there is a standard for newspapers and trade books, within different disciplines are different "conventions." and each area then has its own conventions (std way of handling words and numbers, to simplify it a bit). psychology editing isn't quite the same as chemistry editing, and so on. and then, each publishing house further refines things...and still, the editor has endless decisions to make. what's my point? i might be the only one who thinks this, but i feel that due to the mechanics of typing on a mobile device, conventions online (unless you're writing formally or for business) should be different. here's why: when typing on a regular keyboard (and even more so when writing longhand) it's a small thing to spell correctly and put in apostrophes. but on a phone--let's just take the iphone--things can not only a bunch of clicks, but cost money as well if you don't have unlimited data and/or text. the point of writing and speaking is to communicate. iphone communicates just as clearly as iPhone, and ur fingers is as easily understood as your fingers. further, it's much harder to avoid typos on a tiny keyboard, and it's just plain harder (with any phone) to type period. so: i think the texting manner of writing is fine on the internet, especially on a site devoted to mobile devices. like this one.
ah, see? i made typos right in that! (meant "things can not only take a bunch of clicks, but cost a bunch of money as well).
and forgot to close my quotes, and used sentence fragments (intentionally) and etc. i perfectly well know all those things, so ppl can spend time noting them if they like, but there are better uses of time. ; )Last edited by iquanyin; 07-12-2009 at 08:55 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

^ I would agree. Me, I have a bigger problem with spelling sometimes. I make mistakes all the time but it's because of my typing skills and/or lack of them (lmao). Not that I don't know how to spell but I guess over the years I have just gotten lazy. But I just have to say sometimes when I read post I am just amazed about how many people don't just use spell checker, a program like Asutype or notice a red line under a word. It's like decrypting freakin' code sometimes. I just have to sit back and laugh. So come on people keep me laughing. I love to laugh.
