Unlocking Blackberry Bold

Yo MMi,

Anyone familiar with unlocking Blackberrys? I need to do one for someone, and from what I can gather it is code/IMEI-based, but I'm not real sure what to do...

I think you would need to call the carrier that it is locked to and ask for the unlock code. They should give it to you for free, just keep bugging them until they do or keep calling until someone is willing to give it to you. From there follow these steps.

1) Insert SIM
2) Power on device
3) Go to settings/advanced options/sim card
4) Type MEPD (brings up addional 'hidden' menu)
5) Type MEP2 (alt+E)
6) Enter code

Yup, just call the carrier....most however wont give you the code if you dont have service with them in good standing.

But, if push comes to push harder....you can get an unlock code from ebay for pretty cheap.

it basically like Pwnage tool for bb, u patch then restore....good luck no code needed....the trick is to call and the them that you are going to jamaica for two months and u need the code and they give it to me, but u have to have a account with them....so i think MML (936mb file) good luck again
