Default Me V/S 50" projection tv

    I win

I have a 50" projection tv I bought years and years ago that I keep downstairs since it is the largest room it is easier to see it down there than my 42" lcd widescreen, as the projection TV is a full size square screen (which I actually prefer, I hate these dang widescreens since nothing I watch matches the aspect ratio).

Well the convergence chips were on the fritz causing a black line across the tv when there was a white screen or any really bright screen on the tv causing the tubes to pump it up and strain the chip.

Tonight was the lucky night I got to get in there and fix it. My father has a 60" JVC tv that I have replaced the convergence chip in before, it was GRAVY. This one however was a total PITA, as I knew it would be - since I built the tv in the first place.

Anywho, here's some pics of the fun I had tonight.......

    Fire it up.......

Thats awsome. It's also kinda funny cuz i just ordered 2 conv. chips for my 65" proj. tv. I told my wife that i'm tired of watching tv in "3D". I have a quick question for ya if you don't mind... Did you have to discharge the tubes first? I've fixed many circuit boards, but never in a tv. I also told the wife that one of three things is going to happen... 1. I'll fix it 2. I'll screw it up an we'll buy a Plasma! Or 3. I'll get electrocuted and she can buy whatever tv she wants with my life insurance : \
