[POLL] Obama or McCain

Just a quick poll here on election day to see who you are voting for? Let's restrict replies to WHY we are voting for each candidate (for example if you are for McCain tell us why, otherwise don't respond, but rather just use the poll to vote).

Lets be respectful with one-another's thoughts here though!

Please no flaming!

Barack Obama:

Admittedly Obama is a risk. An unknown quantity, but we need someone in office who will take us in a very different direction than we've been going over the last 8 years. McCain was a very promising candidate, but he is not the same McCain he once was. Since he started campaigning, he's moved far to the right and is now towing the party line. In addition, his voting record speaks for itself. More than 90% in line with Bush.

I can't imagine another administration with the same policies.

It's right under the "Don't Bother Opening the Thread" button.

I won't write extreme locution on my political views and why I made the decision I did - but suffice it to say, I most definitely am following the election, know most likely more about both candidates than most people who simply watch the news or saw a headline or SNL skit, and am fully aware of my own standing in the US economy and how the different candidates tax plans would affect me.

I will say I'm not a huge fan of either candidate though.

I hear you. The taxes are definitely a concern of mine as well with Obama, however; I think that we face bigger problems than having to pay a bit more in taxes. That's why I went for Obama, he's surrounding himself with smart people... most of whom are not affiliated with the "old guard" that got us into this mess in the first place.

That said, I'm not thrilled with the choice either. There were better candidates that didn't make the final cut.

McCain seems a good man but I cant quite believe the way his followers whip up the right wing, some of those people are so radical there is no way anyone should whip them up as there is a risk they will do something every sensible thinking person and the world in general would abhor if the republicans were to lose.
Palin has not been making the mainline new this last week but she sure has been whipping up the radical element, this is a dangerous card to play and any party that relies on it deserves the world they will create.
Come on America do the right thing for a saner and more peaceful world. It will take time for America ro regain respect through deed and not fear. IMHO

im going to give a slightly different opinion than the average young blackman will about the person i voted which was obama. honestly i voted for him cause hes the democatic candidate and hes not mcain. mcain to me equals bush again. yeah as a black man id love to see a black president but honestly if obama was the republican candidate and had the same views mcain did id vote for whoever was running against him. basicaly id vote for a monkey if it was running against mcain (no obama / monkey jokes please) . its a plus to me me to have a black man as president just to say hey we have a black president , my people have overcome. but realy barac is just the lesser of 2 evils and not to get too deep but anybody who is even the least bit intelligent knows the president doesnt rule the country anyway.... im going to leave it at that

in closing obama 08 . get out and vote if you havent

McCain being Republican doesn't mean he's GW Bush. Look up his voting history.

A Republican president is a slave to the right wing money men who brought this current world catastrophe about, even if McCain is good man he will not be able to change much. The administration overall will set policy as always and McCain will be there mouth piece as has every republican president since Regan when the party realised all they needed was a front man, this allowed them to follow their agenda regardless of who was president
