So whats up with all the talk of Att and Verizon being bias when it comes to selling one device over the other?
Well as a sells rep from one of these big box retailers I will admit the company as a whole does push
certain devices over another. For Verizon its "Droids" for At&t its windows based phones. We get some
spiff for selling certain devices such as extra money or prizes.
With extra cash or prizes on the line, and with me being a sales rep that works off commission making any posible gain on my paycheck or taking home something of value, it would be almost stupid for me not sell one device over another.
Personally I'am an Apple "Fanboy" or what ever you would like to call me. I try on most occasions to sell
the best product that fits the customer needs or experience level. I am not going to sell an android base
phone to grandma, I am going to push an iphone or Windows phone. Why? Because they are easier to pick up and use, not saying android is hard but android has a lot going on and can be overwhelming to some. Anyways I am not the type to slam someone into a certain phone just so I can win but if I think they are smart enough and capable of using such device I will push it.
A question I get asked a lot is which device is better. I tell my customers verbatim " That I am an Apple guy so I'am going to be a bit bias, not saying other devices aren't technically better iOS and Apple are just my preference." Most people respect that and I find me making better sales with that statement.
So back to the topic of Verizon or At%t wanting to push certain devices... Is it true "yes" they want to see a bigger mix
and they make a better profit margine on other devices. As for the effect on the sales reps. I cant speak for all but I do believe that in my store, that we have an awesome team and management and none of us would steer a customer in the wrong direction just to make a sell to win something. This isn't true for all reps and all stores, but I also dont want these articles being posted to take away are customers trust in us. There is a reason for At&t and Verizon are the top 2 carriers in the US and I promise they didn't get there by being dishonest and slamming every customer. All they just want to see a better device mix. Some months you would see reps with 90% iPhone mix and you cant tell me that honestly 9/10 people want or need an iPhone in their hand. ( Granted I do believe everyone should have an iphone ) But honestly its not realistic.
So I hope with me writing this you guys can see it from a Sales Rep point of view.....

Sure had a lot to say there Cowboy. Hurt my eyes LOL. Couple grammar, punctuation things but telling like it is. Sellin' is sellin', we do it to make money, not for the exercise.
Treating a customer with respect and developing relationships means more sales, more referrals, more bucko's. So if your getting a spiff for a product and the customer isn't sure what they wanted, which product do you think I would show them. Come on...
