It's a security layer recently added to ios firmware. It stands for address space layout randomization. Here's a link with a quick run down on it.

Oh yeah. I remember there was a jailbreak tool that was never released that planned on actually adding it.

It was more proof of concept than actual tweak. If I remember right it was 0xCharlie that came up with the "tweak" you mentioned. On that wiki link at the bottom it talks of windows, unix, Linux, os x and iOS.
Edit: I think I have it figured out why it's disabled. Enabling on my iphone4 gets me stuck at apple logo. A quick change back and its booting again. I'll elaborate more here shortly.Last edited by A3gOwner; 01-03-2012 at 08:24 PM.

So I came to conclusion my phone will not boot with aslr enabled. I did manage to get my phone to average about 50mb less memory usage. With MMi app running in background I get this on springboard. 346MB free. Better than the 280-300 I had before.

How did you do that?

Not real sure yet. I edited a couple of files messing with the aslr thing. I keep meticulous notes on what I do so once I figure out which mod actually caused this I'll post it. I don't want to just blindly post what I did because it may cause errors on other people's devices and I don't want to hear them whine about it. I still don't know if what I did affects the stability of the device as a whole even though I've had no issues in the last hour or so.

You can remove the language packs and of the some daemons, disable some of the other daemons, to speed up your iphone 4.

That hasn't really done anything for me in the past. I'm pretty sure the language packs do absolutely nothing.

Ya I don't even want to mess with that. My buddy did his iPhone 4 and maybe got 10 or 15 more. Wonder if it has to to with always restoring from backup not as new.

I removed the language packs and launch daemons when I first jail broke it. What I did was just tweak a few plist and other files. It seems stable no issues so far. I've got 4 phones running like mine (both my parents and my little sister) 1 3GS and 3 4's if it doesnt cause issues over next couple days I'll explain how to do it. Was thinking about packaging it into a deb and putting it on cydia for the people who don't want to get their hand dirty.
On a side note I don't run winterboard, perpagehtml, or dreamboard. That helps a lot too.Last edited by A3gOwner; 01-04-2012 at 09:19 AM.

I run PerPageHTML but not SBSettings or any themes. I use BBSettings though.
