It's funny watching everyone say it's broke or cydia down when a jailbreak goes public. I guess it's hard to understand that the servers are getting hit harder than most realize. We go threw this every time for a day or two when it goes public. Patience people give it a day or so.
This has to be about the easiest untether to do. I've done 20+ for people in the last two days and have had no problems other than traffic issues out of any of them. I had the launchctl issue on my own iPhone 4 but a fix was issued pretty quick. The issues seem small with this jailbreak when compared to others of the past.

You are very right orby. It can be avoided but people should understand what the issue is. Only a handful of us know what you are talking about with load balancers and such, even less who understand what they do or how they work.

I may or may not have even encouraged this site and the accompanying repo to use a CDN once upon a time (apparently caused a massive throughput spike, nearly saturating the network pipe, but alas); the bigger point is you cannot expect paying customers to know why it doesn't work or what would fix it. They just expect it to work, and rightfully so.
Saurik is the one who takes the cut on paid apps sale AFAIK, and you'll notice his repo is the only one on a CDN. Just saying.
EDIT: Open mouth, insert foot. Only the Cydia main page is on a CDN. The repo isn't; it probably should be. My bad!

I knew the homepage was but I wasn't sure about the repo. I have to agree that it should be especially with paying customers like you said. That's another thing is that all that takes money too, people will complain either way and especially if price goes up (even if it is to support the traffic load). I'd personally like to see it stay the same as it is because it's not that bad just wait a day or two. The only other real option is charge for the service to pay for equipment needs and maintenance but people would complain more then and we'd lose some of the community that way.
