i want to get a mbp 15" and need some advice, i want to wait till the 27th thinking that the tablet release might somehow lower the price of the other laptops and or for new i5 or i7 intel chip mbp with or without blueray idk what to do...

If you have been an Apple consumer for long enough you will know that the only way prices will drop is if a newer model of the same device is released. New iPods, iPhones, iMacs, etc dont lower the cost of a MB or MBP. That being said, Tablet release will not effect MBP pricing nor will it lower the value of yours. The only thing that will effect that is a newer model of such device. Now I am just repeating myself lol. Buy a refurb or buy new and use a student discount. I buy a new MB or MBP every year when the new models are released. I always sell my old one a few weeks after the release of the newer models and still break even

ok thanks for the info, here is my second question, are there any specific hard drives i need to buy for macs or any will work, and same for ram, i'm going to get the 1699.99 15"mbp and i want at lease 500gb hd and at least 6gb ram...

Well you need a 2.5" SATA HD and DDR3 Ram. I buy all of my RAM from RAMJET. They have the hard drives as will which are priced well. I prefer Seagate or Samsung HDs but Western Digital work well also.
