Well, Orby's been nerding it up, and he's happy to report:
1) The laptop seems better now--opened 'er up, tightened a screw on the drive arm, not grinding the HDD platter anymore.
2) Orby found a switch on Orby's TV that makes the resolution easier on the eyes.
Orby, however, is more frustrated to report:
3) Orby tested with the MBP, the TV supports 1920x1080 just fine, and the MBP correctly recognizes the TV's model/manufacturer data. The hackintosh doesn't. Maybe it's a kext thing (unless the kext was updated mid-OS release, I doubt it). :/
4) sudo() and QTKit/Flash are still broken... for the moment. Still digging on that one.
--I understand y'all probably don't care, but it makes me feel ever-so-slightly better. Mmmk?
EDIT: Rez fixed (was in fact the kext), sudo() recompiled, and Flash sorted itself out. Now my audio's shot (almost assuredly another bad kext), and after trying six different "solutions" across the net, no dice yet. Frak it, I'll try sleeping on it and start swinging at it again tomorrow...Last edited by Orby; 04-02-2011 at 05:19 AM.
