EHHH...... I've looked it over and I don't have the late 2009 iMac. I have the mid 2010. I have the "high end" (as they call it, compared to the i3) Quad core 2.8 i5, 1TB HD, 4gb 1333 DDR3, 1024mb Vram.

    I have this:
    iMac "Core i5" 2.8 27-Inch (Mid-2010) Specs (Mid-2010, MC511LL/A, iMac11,3, A1312, 2390) @ EveryMac.com

Compared to the older late 2009, the very bottom of the page here:
How do the "Mid-2010" Aluminum iMac models compare to the "Late 2009" models that preceded them? @ EveryMac.com

So I dunno what the deal with the build date saying late 2008 unless they built this thing WAY ahead of time.
    Screw #Winning, I'm #Juanning
    iMac 27" i5 quad 2.8Ghz (1TB), MacBook Pro 17" 2.6, iPhone 4s

Your serial number begins W8026, right (and must be eleven characters long)?

    W8--factory code--Shenzhen or Shanghai, China
    0--last digit of year made--so 2010.
26--week in the year made--so first week of July.

EDIT: iMac11,3 is the mid-2010 model, launched July 27th, 2010. First week of July manufacturing date seems about right then.

Yep I used the 8 as 2008 instead of the 0. I knew the right way to do it, but screwed up. Well then it is all correct and I'm really happy with my $500 imac
