This doesn't usually work on people with Mac's. Most windows users turn their sound up 3/4 way (for reasons I don't know - but everyone I know with windows does this), but the Mac user is protected by either having a macbook which isn't loud enough to hear over a cat fart or they have a larger rig such as an iMac that has a comfortable volume under the halfway mark so it isn't that loud when it goes off.
