Ok, so my birthday is coming up soon and my parents agreed to (sorta) get me what I wanted. I'm trying to decide between a few things and need some help deciding.


Here are the choices:

1. MacBook Pro and a new iPod touch
2. MacBook and a new iPod touch
3. 16GB iPhone 3G and a PAYG data plan


If I get any of the MacBooks, then I'll wait until Apple releases some newer models (hopefully aluminum-cased black MacBooks!) and also a newer model of the iPod touch.

If I get an iPhone 3G, I'll have to get a GoPhone PAYG (Pay as you go) data plan from AT&T, since no unlocking is required.


What do you guys think I should get?

What computer do you have now and what kind of phone are you using?

They'll probably spring for the MacBook and Touch, and if so that's the way to go. The iPhone is good, but not that good. You need a Mac.

he ain't rich...... Option 1 is *dreamland* Option 2 is *doable* on a good day, and option 3 is the easy way out. Hell I'm 32 and my mother still buys me Xmas presents just like she always did. I got a Rebel XTi, printer, IS lens and a few other goodies to the tune of $1200 for last Xmas and she isn't wealthy. These are not small purchases, but not too bloated either unless you are in dreamland with him on option 1.

I don't think the PAYG plan will kill the fun of it. I already have a phone so I won't use the iPhone as a phone. I just need it for data, so I'll get unlimited data.

I would go with the Mac Book Pro and iPod Touch, Mac Book Pro wont go out of "style" and its a bad *** laptop.

If the computer you have now has a lot of storage and a pretty good amount of ram, I'd get the iphone in your case (if I didn't have an ipod touch). The computer I have only has 512 mb of ram total, and since it's usually using most of that it can't run programs like winpwn.

yeah macbook pro. and since an iphone is chaper than an itouch, just have them get you the iphone.

I can't get a cheap iPhone since I'm with Verizon, not AT&T. My contract end date is like a year from now and if I cancel now, I would have to pay an early termination fee.

Plus, if I got a PAYG data plan from AT&T, it would be a lot cheaper than their required "iPhone Data Plans".

My other phone, a Voyager, is crappy and I had to repair it 2 times already, and I've only had it for about a month and a half.
