Your favorite Apple, iPhone, iPad, iOS, Jailbreak, and Cydia site.

Howdy. I'm new to the site, a Mac Consultant (I do PCs too), and a fan of both Apple and the iPhone. Glad to see so many people interested in developing "stuff" for the iPhone, even before they get their hands on it. Since I'm not a programmer/App developer, my understanding of this area is limited. Still, with Web 2.0/Ajax being the only way to develop for iPhone (at least initially), Apple seems to be firmly committed to ensuring that nothing can "crash" the device. Not a bad move, IMHO. I hope they choose to eventually partner with Applications developers to at least assist them with developing "Widgets" for iPhone. If Apple agrees to "screen" these new Apps, it will benefit everyone involved. Widgets seem to be the best way to offer "expanded" capabilities for the device. For me, one of the most important capabilities I'll be looking for on the iPhone is a way to synch Excel spreadsheets and Word documents, like I can do now with the Treo via "Documents to Go". Could this be done via the Safari browser in some way?

Hmm. Well, Google Docs allows you to open, save, and edit Word and Excel documents... so if nothing else, there's that..
