ive noticed that when i am idle, i average 1-2 bars. But when i make a call or start a data session, it goes to 3-4. So maybe it is a battery saver feature. IDK.

wow, there are only three cities in kentucky with 3G, lexington, louisville, and frankfort.

i was in gatlinburg/pidgeon forge tennesse last week and no 3g there either, only when i was around the knoxville area did i pick up 3g on my entire 6 hour drive

3g and edge are the data not signal..... id say it has to do with the radio of the phone. a 3g iphone will work where there is no 3g service

thats exactly what im saying... EDGE and 3G are both data connections, why would it effect the SIGNAL, guys get what im saying lol i dunno ?

yep i noticed this as well.

3g = 1 to 2 bars
as soon as i turn it off without even moving a foot it goes to full bars

I too noticed this quite some time ago. When I make phone calls consistently, I normally turn off 3G. I rarely have 3G on unless I am gonna surf the net. Just seems rational.
