making firefox 10x faster
ok i came across this way to make firefox 10x faster .i did it and its faster but not 10x ...
very simple trick , no software no downloads required .
1)Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit enter. Scroll down and look for the following entries:
2) Alter the entries as follows:
Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"
set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.
3) Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves. NOTE:this trick only works for broadband users not for dialup

This isn't a good tip in the sense that it hammers the servers and some places ban you for having too many connections.
Just be warned.

I was about to say, this is a horrible, horrible thing to do. There's a reason that number is low, because the servers only take so many requests. Bumping the number of request from one individual user means more stress.
Example: Assume 100 people use FF's default, 4. that's 400 requests to the MMi servers. You say change to 30. You just turned 400 request to 3000 for a minimal increase in performance.
I really suggest everyone here to change back to the default setting.

Hmm yeah sounds too good to be true, I knew there would be a default for a reason...

The number of requests doesn't change - this doesn't "swamp" the server.
However, increasing it over 8 doesn't seem to do anything in FireFox and increasing it to 8 may slow FireFox down in some situations and break web page drawing in others:

Overall, turning it on should improve performance slightly, the amount depending on a lot of factors.
