Default Best art program to use to make icons with transparency?
Since MS Paint no longer supports transparency...what is another program that is simple to create transparent icons for the phone.

Please post your favorite if you're a creator...and in addition please giver a small summary of how to set it up and what not.

    Thanks.

I assume Windows based on MS Paint.

For most simple tasks, I use Paint.Net -it is free, powerful and supports layers, transparency and PNG well.

You must click more in the color palette to access the transparency slider to create a transparent color.

I use the mask feature and fill with transparent color a lot when creating icons.

You can add in the ability to open PSD files which works fairly well.

I use Microangelo for "standard" (PC) icon's but use CorelPaint 12 for most other things.LOL I have over 2000 works in my gallery and pretty much most of them was done in one or the other or at least went thru Corel to resize

I use Adobe PhotoShop CS3 for all my graphic stuff, but if you're looking for a good free software, go for Paint.NET or GIMP. I would recommend getting Paint.NET over GIMP.

Also, both their sites have many tutorials which can help you out to understand the program.
