Hey there Heath_rox, i've successfully downgraded my PSP about 5 times but theres still a risk of bricking it (making it expensive paperweight). Anyway, for the 3.90 firmware i think you
1) need a copy of the game Lumines or
2) you need to create a Pandora Battery,
i've only ever tried the first method and it worked fine but heres the link to the main website for that stuff: N00bz!Last edited by CrazyJelly; 07-15-2008 at 08:03 AM. Reason: Double Post

buy a spare battery (fat), then
1. make a pandora battery with it
2. create a magic memory stick
3. boot up psp and downgrade
if you want me to go into more detail i will

its reallly easy to hack your psp.
make pandora battery..
open it up with a razer or small flat head screw driver. may take up to 5 minutes to get a clean cut.
once opened look at the top chip it has 8 pins.
cut the pin on the lower right hand side.
put it back together
insert into psp with magi cmemory stick which can be made easily witha number of programs out there.
then .. upgrade to 4.01 m33 firmware

Please note that the pin you have to remove is right next to the one that grounds. If you mess with that one and try and run your battery... Well, do so with a shield and industrial hazard-handling gloves. Sadly, the iPhone can't dial 911 if you are screaming. Need to jailbreak first.
Seriously, the Pandora Battery is a great way to do things. I just bought a used PSP that had the right firmware and made one, then sold it and kept my newly downgraded one. Once you have the battery, it's a great money maker.

few questions
1: do i need two psp, none of my friends have one
2: do i have to have two batteries sometimes i read that i need one others i read i need two (also i dont want to do any HW mods )
3: once i downgrade it how do i make it so i can upgrade again? i think its called time machine
hmm think i found a good tutorial what do you guys think [Guide] Unbrick or Downgrade any PSP using the Pandora Battery - QJ.NET ForumsLast edited by heath_rox; 07-16-2008 at 03:17 AM.

Well Heath_rox,
1) Im not sure if you need 2 PSP's for Pandoras? For Lumines Hack you can do it on one PSP, actually i think you only need one PSP for Pandora's Battery
2) You need a spare battery for Pandora's but not for Lumines Exploit/Hack
3) You can upgrade whenever you want without a hack but if you put a custom firmware on then i think you need Time Machine. Im not to sure about that though..
And remember whenever you downgrade there is a risk of turning your PSP into an expensive paperweight! On the other hand, you have fingers

Good luck! I just realized that Lumines exploit is for 3.50 PSP's anyway.
EDIT: Found a good link for you that shows unbricking and downgrading any PSP firmware: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/610313Last edited by CrazyJelly; 07-16-2008 at 05:36 AM. Reason: Added Link
