Is MMi going to cease to exist?
With the coming of FW 2.0 and the App Store, do you all think that the modding community will fade away? Seeing that you can download great apps that should work with no problem, whats the point of jailbreaking. But I can see the other side too, some people mite not want to pay for apps. Also, I can see that some people wont be upgrading to the 3G iPhone. What do you all think?

Their was a thread with this same questions awhile back.. Of course the website will still exist, Of course people will still Mod for the iPhone..
Many people just wont be Jailbreaking. But the Appstore wont feature Summerboard or Customize. And i refuse to pay for Apps.
And i bet within 2 months half of the Apps that cost money will be hacked and added to Installer.EDM

Hacking apps that cost money is called stealing. We don't stay on the scene by promoting/participating in illegal activity, and we never have.
Of course we'll still be here - folks will still want iPhone's on T-Mobile, even if it doesn't have 3G - not everyone wants to cancel their contracts, plans, etc. Jailbreaking will still exist for the giant theming community as well - Apple is not planning on allowing any apps to touch the system UI.
Then there's the thousands of developers that Apple DIDN'T accept into the AppStore - legal "on-the-fence" stuff like all of ZodTTD's emulators won't be hosted/sold by Apple. I enjoy having all my old SNES and NES games on my iPhone.
And of course, all the new mods/system tweaks/hacks for the new iPhone.

MMI will be here. I think that the new firmware will still be hacked. Who knows it may be better hacked than the firmware now but only time will tell. There will still be mods to the new iphone but hopefully it can be jailbroken. I am still going to keep my 1st gen untill it craps out and by then we will know what can be done or not done with it.
If anything was usefull a thanks would be great!

The only problem is that nullriver(from what I hear) wont be rewriting installer.app for 2.0 which means essentially the death of jailbreaking. The only way I can think it can survive is cydia or old school techniques (ssh for everything)

You pay $400 for your Playstation, and $60/month for the internet to use it on, does that mean games should be free?
You pay a few grand for a TV, then $100+/month for cable. Does that mean Blockbuster should give you free movies?
You pay $115+/month for your cell phone bill. That has nothing do with Super Monkey Ball and all that. That's a service you're paying for - connection to a giant network that employs tens of thousands of people and costs hundred of millions of dollars a year to run. Your phone is ALSO a computer. You want new games than it comes with, and somebody put hundreds of hours of work into creating an incredible game - pay the man.
Cydia is and has been a ready and more than adequate replacement for a good while now, and is already supported by ModMyI (we were actually the first to support them among the Community repos), Ste, and BigBoss. Jailbreaking is going nowhere, and will easily be able to co-exist with the AppStore - you won't have to pick and choose which you want.

I think quite the opposite, meaning I'll bet MMi will get even bigger and better with the hacking/development for the 2.0 firmware and 3G devices.
Apples taste good.

I think it's important to adapt to what's happening. And in that sense, we'll always be number 1 =D

twitter.com/dale1vMicrosoft owns the internet through Hotmail. The .HTML is short for Hotmail, so all .HTML files are MS files.

As long as people such as myself and others prefer to have their iPhones themed and modded beyond humanly possible, MMI LIVES!!! I hate to ditch a perfectly good hacked and modded phone for a new shinier one!
