Limited?
Or Extended warranty?
As some of you know, im going to be buying a macbook, and ive REALLY OVERDONE my research. But it comes down to one little aspect. The Warranty.
The Macbook comes with a 1 year limited warranty, and id just like to know, whats that cover? Also, when I buy an apple care plan, is there a plan for 1 year? or two year minimum? Also, what does the apple care plan provide that the 1 year limited doesnt?
Thanks ahead guys. Youve all helped so much over the past week(s).
Well, im off to fix my Aunt's computer!HAVE I HELPED YOU? Thank me!

Well, you get like 30 days to return it. IF YOU BUY FROM AN AUTHORIZED APPLE DEALER, you should get an automatic limited 1 year warranty.

Get the apple care it is worth it if something does go wrong. and also if you are going to an apple store go there often and talk to the sales folks and go to the free workshops that they have, I would also suggest one to one because those all let you get to know that folks there then if something does go wrong they give you a little faster (sometimes) service.

It would be more accurate to say what "doesn't" the warranty cover, and that's damage, and the battery (you have 90 days to replace the battery if it goes bad, usually if something is defective, it'll happen very soon). The Apple Care warranty covers either 2 or 3 years. And includes things like a straight swap out if anything goes majorly wrong.
Get "iPod & iTunes for Dummies", it'll change your life.

The problem i have with MB and MBP are the track pads. After very little time the glossyiness (if thats even a word) wears off and makes the trackpad not as smooth. Unfortunately its a reacurring problem with them

in my view, the care plan is a waste of money, the 1 year warranty is all you really need...
seriously consider building your own laptop using osx86, much cheaper and much more powerful

Let me say that Apple's tech support has been the most helpful and usefull out of any customer service that I have ever dealt with and the Apple Care is well worth it.

Quick comment. Although I do only own an iPhone not a computer from apple. I have never purchased any warranty extension plans from them. Though I have gotten my iPhone replaced 3 times in the course of the last year. Yes youll be keen to jump that I recieved a one year warranty. But I had purchased my iPhone The week it came out last year. And it was replaced once in the past month.
I dont know but just seemed like some good imput.
Sorry if it doesnt help Atokadd, Good luck!
BTW: I see your in Tampa. I go to the Apple Store at International Mall. (Just incase you were curious)Last edited by Dan0609; 07-05-2008 at 09:07 PM. Reason: addition
