    Hi. Can anyone recommend a good program to rip DVD's and convert to MP4 format to play on iPhone? Does it have to specify it's for the iPhone or is one for ipod OK?

    For my iMac I use Handbreak. Its free gets the job done.

    Handbreak is awesome. I really like how it includes chapter marks on your the mp4 so that it preserves the chapters. I'm not sure if thats just a standard thing on mp4s but I really like it. And it does a really good job of compressing them to 600 - 1000 mb files without any blockiness.

    If you're using Windows the easiest is to use DVD Decrypter to rip the DVD then use Videora to conver to mp4. Both programs are free, just google them up.

    I vote for Media Fork. Same code as hand Break but HB hasn't been upated in over a year. I think they sold the source and another company made Media Fork. Seems a little faster ripping DVDs

    I believe Handbreak has been updated and has replace MediaFork
