LCD Tv vs Plasma Tv
Which do you think is better and for what? Honestly I think LCD tvs are great tvs for all around purposes and for gaming.

I have a 42" Plasma in my bedroom which is amazing with HD. At the time I bought it a year ago the plasmas were much cheaper than the equivalent LCD and with better contrast ratio specs. For gaming and movies I actually prefer my 60" DLP.

I have a LCD and my friend has a plasma. IMO i think his plasma has a little better color and resolution (a lot may be the blu-ray player he has). My understanding is that a plasma will dim down after a few years where a LCD does not (this is what i have been told and correct me if i an wrong).
If anything was usefull a thanks would be great!

I went for LCD as well. Clean crisp image. I found plasma to have a more ghosted or foggy picture in comparison. Plus the previous poster is right, plasmas won't last nearly as long.

I have Plasma for the main reason that because of the physical layout of my living room Ihave the tv in a corner and an L-shaped couch in teh opposite corner. No one has a straight on view of the tv so when we went shopping, the LCD's all seemed to lose out unless you are looking directly at it. The plasmas did not lose resolution at angles.

who of you guys think that you will have same flat tv what you own now in lets say 5 years? do you honestly think that most of people who already bought some nice flat tvs will have same one longer then the gas from plasmas will actually run out? i dont think so. i think majority of people will get newer tvs way before that. maybe something like this Photos: Sony's OLED TVs gain star status | CNET News.com ??? so i think it really doesnt matter if plasma or lcd. both have great pics and resolution if you have good source. and viewing angle nowadays is same with both as well. 179 degrees almost everyone...
dude never heard of it? google it, its amazing. they just need to develop some kind of organic computer to get rid of box with electronics. roll-able tvs coming soon...Last edited by gavko; 06-25-2008 at 11:58 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

I have Sony Bravia 32" LCDHDTV 720p and it's an extremely great HDTV to have for any purpose but Plasma is better than LCD.
After doing months and months and spent hours of researching this topic it appeared to me that Plasma IS A LOT BETTER THAN LCD.
LCD is great and better for only ONE thing and that is gaming. So what I tell people and if they can afford buy LCD for your PS3 or 360 but for movies, sports, and other shows PLASMA owns LCD.
If you don't believe me do this research yourself from the pros, research videos, comparisons and you'll see what I'm talking about.
The burning, and ghost in that people mention that happens with Plasma is highly overrated and with today's Plasmas as technology got better they don't even suffer from those things like they did few years back.
- Plasma offers more colors, A LOT MORE colors and produces a natural looking picture, while LCD has a lot less colors and produces very good detailed sharp BUT ARTIFICIAL PICTURE.
- LCD is horrible at night time because of black levels. IT SUCKS AT NIGHT TIME. Good for watching at day light but at night time PLASMA massacres LCD all over the place.
Also, don't be fooled. Plasmas are still great TV's for gaming but because LCD provides so called "artificial picture" therefore it's much more proffered in the gaming world.

LCD is much better than Plasma, the fact that LCD lasts much longer and Plasma doesn't. The picture is also better on LCD, like the above poster said you get foggy pics sometimes.
