I was at a party and i found an iphone on the floor. I tried to see if anyone at the parrty lost theirs but (surprisingly) no one claimed it. I went to call a number on the phone but it was locked or disabled or something. Im not trying to keep it or anything but I wanted advice on how to get it back to its rightful owner because these phones are very expensive and i know that if I lost my iphone I would be pissed out of my mind. What should I do?

You could possibly take it to a AT&T/Apple store. I'm sure they could look up the IMEI and find the owner possibly?

does it turn on or do anything? There is a dial sequence you can call (i forgot the number) but it lets you use the iphone besides the phone, maybe if you dial it you can get to the adress book.

hmm I dont like the idea of taking it to the store since the employee might tell you we will find the owner, and then keep it say for couple of months and then declare it lost and either sell it or even one of the employees keep it for themselves... I would hate to see that happening, and its very possible that it might. if you want take it to the store, see if they can find the owner, but dont leave it there. I would ask couple of days later to see if anyone told the party's owner that he/she lost an iphone.

That is the owner's irresponsibility, therefore at least now you (the new owner) will be more responsible and appreciative of this product.

If you truly want to give it back, I suggest you use the iPhone until the original owner finds you, or if you hear someone at the party that knows someone that lost their iPhone. Cause at least you can both benefit from....... this if the owner does contact you later. -enjoy the phone while you can

You can easily find the owner. All you do is look through the phone book, find like HOME/MOM/DAD or WORK. Copy the number and call it and find the owner.

Take it to the Apple Store, do the right thing, don't listen to the people who say to keep it, because if someone found my phone i'd want it back, and id do most likely anything i could to get it back (Its hard earning $7.50 an hour) Bring it to Apple, they can look up the owner with the serial number or IMEI probably.

What if the phone is unlocked to another carrier? I don't think the Apple employees would care about getting it back to its owner since it isn't being used with its proper carrier. I suggest taking the SIM out and checking to see if it has an AT&T sim or another carrier sim. Once you find the carrier all you have to do is go to the proper store/business and have them check the sim itself to see who the owner is. All you will have to do after that is have the person meet you at teh store or where ever you decide to meet so you can give teh phone back.... that's my 2 cents.

if not use the method to get safari working on an inactivated iphone, then go to the settings and change the lock settings to immediately to after 4 hrs then restart and u should beable to access the iphone, from there go to the phonebook and call the rightful owner as kthankzbye said, look up MOM DAD or Work or something like that and then there u go, if not after that restore, and u have a free iphone to mod and screw around with :-)
