I'm Getting a Time Capsule 500GB
Hey everyone! I just ordered a Time Capsule 500GB off of the Apple website yesterday. I loved the back-up fuctionality; but could it be used for Time Machine back-ups, and also be used as a hard drive at the same time? I'm not desperate for the answer, it would just be good to know.

backing up over wifi is going to suck. time machine runs every hour and that will eat your bandwidth. better off backing up via usb, or get an internal hd to backup to. or get a timemachine mod app to back up once a day at night when your not using your system.

As Drunknbass said, it is going to suck. It will take a lot longer than firewire or usb, and it eats up bandwith.

Having the 1TB model here, no problems at all, sometimes it takes a long time when trying to "open" the TC from finder when its "sleeping" but overall you won´t regret your decision to get one.
If I could help you with my answer give me a

I have one.
If you like torrents. This is not for you.
The first backup takes FOREVER.
And your bandwith DIES.

Yes you can plug it in and back it up with a USB.
they recommend that you do your first back up over USB as it will take forever, I recommend that you do it over night and let it work while you sleep. I turn my TM off and back up wirelessly once a month or so, I havent found it to be to bad.
I really like my TC and I am glad I got it.
I use mine with my macbook and two PC's with no problem.
