Hacker community Will Still Be at large
One thing that had me worried was that if today was the release of a flawless 2.0 and appstore service then jailbreaking would not be needed any longer besides maybe to activate on other carriers but i think now with the relase of 2.0 and its 9.99 ipod touch plan the hacking community will get stronger and better now that we have to sdk, no?
in the future i expect to see
*the 2.0 apps and fixes on the itouch through a better improved installer
*Better more enhanced games available through both apps store and installer/cydia
but with this it seems apple is trying to phase out the itouch, i live nz and so i can only ever have an ipod touch and the one time i tried to get an iphone a was scammed but dotn worry i got my money bak wen i took him to court, and it seems the 3g iphone will cost the same as the itouch then who will want an itouch so have a think and tell me waht....
you expect to see in the hacking community in the next 6 months
your predictions
etc

I think the hacking community will continue to grow just as it has before. Jailbreaking has no impact on how Apple/AT&T is selling the phone so we'll still see Installer and the rest around.

The hacking community will stay because of Apple's tremendous restrictions on the things the apps can do. Also, with the SDK, developing is easier, so the iPhone hacking community should stay strong...

That said, with the push mentality Apple presented today, a lot of Apps that previously required a background service running will be able to exist within Apple standards.

Apple absolutely fail at giving the consumer full choice. And because of that, hackers are empowered to do more to improve the device, and they will do.

The Jailbreaking community will get much better, since for the App Store you may have to pay prices for different types of software, where as for Installer you don't. Also the fact that you have to get apps signed by Apple

I'm sure there will be plenty of jailbreaking support and appds via installer. Apple is pretty stringent on the apps that can be developed and be placed on the appstore, so those developers will still gravitate toward installer/cydia. Also, via the Appstore, developers will recieve 70% of the revenue from their apps, versus the 100% they recieve if they distribute their app through installer and require an activation code.

I also want to add that Apple will soon start selling unlocked versions of the iPhone. But if that happens some of the main Unlock/Jailbreak may leave the community and we won't see as much as we used to
