I do agree with you with McCain being more qualified. I mean, his record speaks for himself, being a POW and all, the guy has literally fought for his country. However, I can't get behind his party. It's just too old-school politics and I do think people need change from that. Is it too idealistic? Perhaps, but I think any change at this point is better than more of the same.
I know this is a stupid example but take the Republican National Committee page. There is not a single link to anything related to McCain. In fact, had I not followed politics, I would have no idea who they support! The page is a 100% attack to Obama. Hell, it has more "Obama" content than the DNC!
I really think that McCain needs to change gear when dealing with Obama or he's going to down real bad.

whats wrong with having muslim connections?
is ther esomethign wrong with being muslim? i have never seen a muslim do anything wrong. there are extremists , just like there are in christianity , judaism , animal rights activists, atheists. i mean come on people.. stop generalizing entire groups of people by the actions of Very few.. Islam is approaching to be the worlds largest religion, it is definataley the fastest growing one
and with that aside. obama is not muslim. His speeches have great charismatic authority and he is very good at being charismatic.
i think he has some very good characteristics about him. he is young, full of audacity, i think he wants change in this country which in my opinion is very very bad. i know some of you may say shut up your in the best country, but seriously no , we are not.
our country is full of ****, garbage slime politics and one of the worst socially stratified systems out there. our gap between rich and poor is huge. and we get blinded by our illusive middle class.
i think many of you who make such comments need to really check up on your history (especially those of you who talk about our founding principles) our founding fathers were drunk socially ambiguous individuals. many of them not all , were not great men. in fact our country which any think was founded on religious tolerance and social tolerance was in fact only tolerant of those religoins and social classes which they deemed to be the right ones.
i think this country needs a major clean up. it needs educated citizens. non rascist and free thinking individuals.
please dont ever beleive every thing you read. especially if it comes in the form of an email attachment telling you barack obama is a secret terrorist. do your research, the internet is a beautiful thing you can read hundreds of counter arguments and you can make your own damn mind up. and i beleive thats what we need to change our society . research, educated individuals who know what hey are talking about , and the number one thing we need to do in this country if anything is to release our dependance on oil, coal and capitalism.
please please please dont stop reading and researching and beleiving in things that you cant see.

Let me ask you this about Obama, OK?
Reverend Wright has been Obama's trusted friend, pastor, and even mentor as Obama States in his book Audacity of Hope. This 'mentor' of Barack's is a major supporter/friend of Louis Farrakhan, an Anti-American, Jew Hating, *** Hating, awful human being. Additionally, this pastor of Obama claims that the US Gov't planned the attacks of 9/11 as a conspiracy, and that the Gov't also created AIDS to exterminate the Black Race. Obama has been attending this church every Sunday for the past 20 years. When this was brought into the light, Obama claimed that he has never heard any of it before... Oprah left the church 10 years ago (when Obama was still there) because she could not take it. And then, all of a sudden, when it's hurting his campaign he disassociates himself with his friend and mentor of 20+ years? I mean c'mon... Really?
And then Obama's wife said recently that shes never been proud as an American, until now.
How can you vote for a guy like that? A very little voting record, as well as experience.
McCain isn't great either-- no stem cell research, would appoint ultra conservative Supreme Court judges, poor Iraq policies (I think),etc.
In my mind the winner is the less of the greater evils so to speak.Last edited by gibbs0828; 06-07-2008 at 12:00 AM.

EDIT: I retract my statement of John Hagee. It seems he just endorsed McCain and isn't his church priest.

The only problem with Obama having ties to the "muslim" community is that now a days "muslims" are taught that Christians and America are bad and that it should be destroyed. I am not knocking the religion but as a christian i do not want somebody that associates with people that want us dead running our country.

the thing is though , this Reverend Wright issue is being blown way out of porportion.
he is his pastor , a man who he leads a church , where obama goes to praise god not the the reverend.
and so be it , this guy has said some pretty crazy ****. but i do agree with him that 9/11 attacks were conspirited with the us knowingly accepting the fact that it would happen , and when and where. i mean we have the undeniable proof the the U.S had their hand in the attacks. not to mention the demolition of the twin towers not by a plane but from possible dynamite being blown.....
sorry im off topic here.
and not all muslims hate christians and americans. we have a very large number of muslims here in america.. why would they be here if they hated it.. and why would 7 % of this country belong to them.. i mean they own 7% of this country.
the issue of the presidency i not about who obama associated him self with. i mean for that matter why dont you criticize bush for being very close the Bin Laden family , for being business partners with them.... come on
and McCain is old, and frigid, and not willing to change anything. and im sur ehe eats dinner at 4 pm.. and is asleep by 6 . what happens if some **** goes down at 7 pm he will already be asleep.

+1 but its not entirely the president we should be worried about CONGRESS is the problem and is something that needs to be strictly controlled such as pay and term limits. its not like our personal votes actually count anyways its just there to possibly sway the electorals final vote,

Who cares if he can give a good speech. He does not believe in god or anything this country is founded on. thats like letting an anachist be pope.
Its not his name it is he does not believe in god or our flag or most of what this country stands for or was founded on. he does not believe in our national anthem.Last edited by JAG2621; 06-10-2008 at 09:47 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Nothing says "I have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about" quite like when people say that.
Of course, in case we weren't already sure you were just posting for the sake of saying something after the aforementioned statement, this solidifies it: "the issue of the presidency i not about who obama associated him self with. i mean for that matter why dont you criticize bush for being very close the Bin Laden family , for being business partners with them.... come on ".
Nuff said.

Actually if Obama won i would validate the idea of the rags to riches American Dream which other countries would respect. People in other countries think that we are all talk with the "anyone can become what they want" because in the end we have always been run by "the white man." Now I am white and I think that if nothing else Obama becoming president would boost our reputation around the world.

To add what river mentioned, Obama has brought an unprecedented amount of attention from the rest of the world. Here's a pretty good article touching on it:
Overseas, Excitement Over Obama - washingtonpost.com
And here's another article of reactions across the globe the night he won the nomination:

Obama will bring a much needed change to this poor and dying country. I have stood behind him since day one.
Some people need to actually dig in and do some research on the guy before they blast away. He has terrific ideas, a strong home life, a good education, and is willing to accept that he doesn't know it all.
The guy, I believe, will turn this country for a 180 turn around.
Then most of the haters will be hiding in the shadows not wanting to admit that they were wrong. Some will still be standing strong against him not wanting to admit his accomplishments.
I have stood strong for him since day one. I am definitely no politician. This is my first time ever doing research and following an election. My whole family is prejudice so you can imagine the heat I have taken by wearing my Obama shirts in support.
For you people out there that don't like him: Fine, nothing states that you ahve to like everyone in the world. Do some research on him personally. Forget the media, pastor, muslim (which is utter BS), and everything else you know. Genuinely do some research on your own. If you still don't like him then so be it. Try to step back and give the guy a chance though. He has the people in mind. He isn't in it to please politicians as some of the candidates/Presidents are and have been. ::cough:: Bush ::cough::cough::"Count your blessings. Make your blessings count!"
Is that an iPhone in your pocket?

Uh...have you been under a rock? Do you know Obama's voting record and what he has done for IL and the city of Chicago? He attends church regularly, and is outspoken about his faith. Where do you get 'he doesn't believe in God' from? How do you "believe" in a national anthem?

Never saw a politics thread on this forum or read one rather. However, from reading this one I see that many assume and/or go off what they heard instead of actually finding out.
Sorta like saying Mac sucks and there are no applications available for it but you never used one.
Right on point. Last paragraph almost killed me lol
Seriously though, if anybody says they don't support Obama because he goes against what this country was built on please enlighten me and tell me what you believe this country was built on.
