LimeWire Video/Other Quality
Okay, first of all, I know LimeWire is illegal to use for free movies and music etc.. But I was interested in the video quality of the movies people host on them. I just downloaded Finding Nemo for an example and the quality completely sucks. Has anyone found any movies of better quality like DVDs for example? What should I look for to get better quality movies - the size of the file?

Size really varies on compression. You can have 2 hours compressed like crap on a 700mb file, or a better compressed movie in 2 700mb files. What I noticed when I used to file-share was that the medium was generally driven by the storage. In other words, a couple of years back, everything generally was 700mb so you could fit it on a CD. Today, with huge storage media and DVD-s, this really isn't an issue anymore. For the most part, pirated DVD's are just ripped images of the DVD, so around 4.7GB or 7-8 for dual-layer ones while compressed movies are in the 2-3GB range for something watchable.

I know piracy isn't supposed to be spoken of and is bad mmkay... (lol).
Just search some warez sites, though and download movies from there.
If anything I said in this post is unacceptable, could the admins/mods please delete? Thanks!

C'mon guys, read the damn post before spewing out nonsense. He's asking what a good ripped movie is in terms of size, file, and quality, not where to find said movies.
And while I'll concede the point that 700mb are watchable, in this day and age I thought we'd reach the point where anything less than a DVD-Image isn't good quality.

700mb is the typical size for a movie DVDRip. 350Mb is the typical size for an episode etc. Files around these sizes have good quality and if you can find a decent converter, they will look great on your iPhone.
When you search torrent sites, be sure to observe the comments associated with what you're searching for, gives you another idea of how good the quality is.

What the members that are referring to Torrents are trying to say is that LimeWire is nice to for music, but not really for movies. There are more movies available via Torrent sites than limewire. Trust me, I converted from LimeWire to uTorrent.
My point is that you will def find better quality movies through Torrent sites than on LimeWire.

Limewire is awful in general unless you're searching for an individual song.

Even the individual songs on Limewire are awful most of the time. I think I am just impartial to other ways, I personally hate Limewire.

heh heh, there appears to be a general concensus here regarding torrents... Give them a try, they are 100% better, erm so I hear...
