any web developers?

hey,
i am average when it comes to web developing and i am able to make personal sites/wedding sites/flash sites.
but i need some help.. I have ONE div that i want to be able to automatically resize to the size of the window.
right now it fits perfectly at a height of 340px on my laptop but when i view it on my desktop.. the monitor is much bigger and the div still shows as a height of 340px (obviously) so this causes lots of black space, because my goal is for the user not to be able to scroll using the browser scroll bar.
this probably involves javascript which i suck at! and all the stuff i found online doesn't really help me.
any help would be GREAT!
