Default MMS guide for iphone ATT. July
FULL CREDIT GOES TO STEALTH BROVO
i just added a tiny bit.

    ok,
so to get MMS on your iphone
    youll need
    -your iphone
-an Att phone that has a sim slot. and is currently not in use (id suggest that its not)
-preferably another phone to call ATT from (home phone)

first off. lets get your iphone set up for MMS on the inside.
    use this file

    ATT_US.ipcc
EDIT:: ipcc has failed for me after jailbreak and installing some stuff from cydia. it tends to just fail on attempt, to anyone with the same issue, a fresh restore has always worked like a charm for me. so if the ipcc file fails, restore and set up as new device, you should be golden
    should download something labled "ATT_US.ipcc.zip"
remove the zip from the end of the file. dont unzip

    open up itunes, and then
    Mac: option-click "Check for upgrade"
    PC: shift-click "check for upgrade"

then find the ipcc file and apply it to the device

it should say updating carrier settings or something
    then restart your phone
check if there is a MMS option under the messages part of settings.

if their there then your good so far.

    K heres the tricky part.

pop your sim into the old att phone *cant be another iphone*
    make a few calls.
we are getting the new phone to register with ATTs network so they think your on this new phone instead of the iphone.

after about 4-5 minutes of random calls and texts

call ATT. talk to a tech rep.

it doesnt really matter which tier you get to.
but honestly ive had more luck with the tier one ( level one)
i think it has to do with something about them not being trained as well so they dont know when their being fooled :P
EDIT: Family messaging plans all you need to do is set up your WAP push, and switching plans and snooper is uneeded
but tell them you are switching between phones and you want to be able to picture message on the other phone. tell them you need a few things set up
one you need to get a messaging plan instead of an iphone plan.
two your media net EDIT::: looks like you can use your iphones Data plan instead of Medianet data, so disregard medianet
three they need to enable WAP push
and there are two places in snooper that need to be set so they wont switch you back to the iphone messaging plan
snooper is an application that scans phone and switches you to the appropriate plan
give them the excuse that you ddont want to keep calling back to switch plans.

    when all this is done
turn your phone off, and back on. or power is as instructed by the rep.

yelling at the reps gets you nowhere. oh and avoid confusing them to the point where they ask a supervisor, they will prbly give you the thumbs down.

if you get someone who says no, just call back later.

then navigate to Settings>General>Network>Celluler Data Network>scroll down to MMS
im currently successfully using these settings
    APN: wap.cingular
    Username:
    Password:
    MMSC: mmsc.cingular.com
    MMS Proxy: wireless.Cingular.com:80
    MMs Max Message Size:
    MMA UA Prof URL:

then respring (not sure if you have to, but i did)

    and try sending an MMS.
    if it works great
if it doesnt, then something went wrong and id suggest you try again
also, restoring and reactivating the iphone seems to kill the messaging plan. its still there but doesnt include MMS or something about the WAP.
idk but restoring and reactivating requires a new call to ATT and a re add of the plan

    Good luck
    if there are any questions.
    feel free to contact me.

What device is this ipcc for? The three devices have different base firmwares that ipccs build off of so there would need to be 3 separate files. I'm assuming it's for a 3GS since that's the device you have listed in your profile.
If I helped you, then hit the "Thanks!" button please.

Oh, sorry if you misunderstood me. I didn't need an ipcc for my iPhone. I posted that for people who didn't have a 3GS so that they woulnt try that method and say that it didn't work. Excuse any spelling errors because I'm on my iPhone.

Why are all these threads the same? Can't we just post this in one thread? Why not change imei on account to other phone, get medianet unlimited(makes bill cheaper too), loose visual voicemail, and not have anymore problems with mms? Loosing visual voicemail too much for u, then wait til AT&T rolls this out. What they are doing for you is changing iPhone text to messaging unlimited and registering acount with medianet, which seems to work for some(how long tho) and not others. Tier 1 DOES NOT(no matter what they say) have access to snooper, ier 2 and higher only. I did what I posted(in numerous of the other threads about this) 8 months ago, lost visual voicemail but have had mms ever since no problems at all.

well, i have visual voicemail. working.
    and MMS

the girl i talked to had access to snooper. i believe she was tier one because i wasn't transferred.
called and went through the automated system and she picked up.

and ive had it going for a while. my phone shows up as an ATT iphone. i have the unlimited messaging.
AND just tested and my MMS is functioning.

is there a higher then tier two? lol

You have vis voice because u still have iPhone data package. They would not give me messaging unlimited and iPhone data, only medianet unlimited and messaging unlimited. I didn't mind because it was like $20+ less a month that way. I have read all over people doing the same as you and a week later they're complaining it don't work anymore. I'm not putting u or your method down, if it worked for you GREAT just keep us posted if it stays working. I'm glad to hear it's working for someone else now. Isn't it great.

hmm, well i will defiantly edit my post to say it doesnt work if it stops in a few days.

    thanks for the heads up.

and the reason i kept the data plan was i told them id be switching between phones.

and ive had it working since um. 4-5 days now?

    Still working BTW

Well currently I got the non iphone sms/mms service on my ATT account, but Itunes do not see the ATT_US.ipcc file.

The shift-click "check for upgrade" method just allow .ipsw files.

I don't mind all the MMS threads. Everytime a new one pops up, everyone gets excited and tries the "new" method. Hopefully next week when 3.1 drops we will see our last MMS thread. BTW, nice guide Justin!

  16. #14
And, BTW, all Carrier Bundle/IPCC files are the same across all devices, according to Apple's rules. Even the newest iPhone1,1 Carrier Bundle has the MMS info in it, even if it doesn't use it.

Thank you stealth. Although, honestly I only added the part about what to tell AT&T and how to get them to set it up for you. and i just thought I'd tell people how I got it working.
But thanks, means alot coming from forum god stealth

And ya, i can see how many threads concerning the same thing can be annoying... APOLOGIES!

My MMS is still working like a charm. It's fast too.

I'm in Hawaii, sorry if I don't reply For a while.

I've used this one my 3GS, my brother EDGE phone, my best friends 3G, his brothers 3GS and then 2 more 3Gs for other friends.

Does having family unlimited messaging change this guide? I've previsouly tried to add a regular messaging plan to my line but I get a notice saying a messaging plan would conflict with family messaging unlimited. I already do not receive the viewmymessage alerts.

Do I still have to call A&TT and if so what is it that I still require, WAP Push?

    Thanks
