Thread: Text Messages?
08-29-2007, 01:57 PM #1Text Messages?
are my 200 text messages a total of all incoming and outgoing, or do I get free incoming and 200 outgoing?

afaik it's 1 message used per sent message, and one message used per message received

Any individual message counts. So if your friend SMSs you with "u there?" and you reply with "ya" that is counted as 2 of your 200. I got the extra 1500 messages for $10 extra, and I even have AOL IM coming to my phone through SMS, and I haven't gone over 1500, so it's a pretty good deal for me.

I added the extra 1500 as well. There was no way 200 would last a month as I use SMS and Email a lot more then I do calling people.<--- I'm new so don't hit me just yet.

I actually called an ATT Rep and asked about this question and she responded that only outgoing sms messages count in the 200 meaning free incoming messages.

Yep! I did the same thing and paid for it at the end of my bill cycle, a $20 extra loot i could have used. I called a rep at AT&T complained and they took it off my bill but not after I had to prove it came from one of their reps? Just keep ya records of when and who ya talk to so that when the mistakes are made by someone else YOU don't have to pay for them!

yeah, thats incorrect. 200 messages is for 200 incoming or outgoing, so be prepared to fight your bill when it shows up. You can even verify this yourself. Just send 1 text message to someone and make sure you get a reply, then check your usage and you will see you are now 2 messages fewer than before
