I'm wanting to jailbreak my Apple TV gen2 it's on 5.0 and all I've seen available is a tethered jailbreak and of coarse I want an untethered jailbreak. Not sure what to do here. Please advise.

Widget-Weather App Now Available! Also with MyLocation Support!
Check out the thread here - Widget-Weather
To install the Widget-Weather app, just go to Cydia and install. This will also remove MyLocation, as it is built in!
Want to protect your JailBreak! Add this repo http://cydia.myrepospace.com/iLEXiNFO/ & Install "iLEX R.A.T."
It will allow you to bring your phone back to a fresh jailbroken state!

So what do I need to do? If I update I can't choose my firmware right? Won't it automatically update to the latest firmware? What's the most current firmware for it and can it be jailbroke (untethered)?

The current firmware is IOS 5.2.1 and is a tethered jailbreak. If you have shsh blob saved, you can restore to an untethered jailbreak.

You should start saving your blob locally using Tiny Umbrella.

I would but I haven't jailbroke it yet. I don't really want to unless its untethered.

You can still save your blob locally without a jailbreak.

Oh, with tiny umbrella? I did not know that. Thanks. So can I download a untethered jailbreakable firmware (ipsw) from idownloadblog and restore to it? Or does the ipsw need to match my current firmware? Thanks for helping.

If you do have the blob downloaded, go download snowbreeze master and stitched the firmware that correspond to the blob, follow instructions to put iphone into pwned dfu mode and restore to it. You can see Nito TV if it is jailbroken.
